We're here to make your "Back to School" process as smooth as possible. The following steps will provide a guide to getting your student(s) registered and ready to begin a new school year at OGE.
If you are new to Oak Grove, Welcome! 

 

 

Here is your "Back to School" checklist:

 

1. Register for school

2. Complete Membership Toolkit Checkout
3. Get signed up for news and event information
4. Sign up for SchoolCafe for school meals

5. Receive Bus route information

6. Register for After School care (if applicable)

 

 

1. Register and Enroll for School

 

Registration will take place ONLINE this year, however OPEN HOUSE will still take place on Wednesday, August 2nd. Click Here for more details.


NEW Dekalb County Schools students (including Kindergarten students) will utilize the DCSD Online Registration Center to complete the registration process.
Visit 
www.dekalbschoolsga.org/online-registration to begin the process.

 

Documents you will need (Digital Copies): 

  • Proof of Residency (lease, deed, utility bill with parent/guardian name)
    * Affidavit of Residence is required if living with someone else.
  • Georgia Form 3300, Form 3231 (can be obtained by your child's doctor)
  • Withdrawal form from previous school (if applicable)
  • State Issued Photo ID of Parent/Guardian
  • Child(s) Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card or Social Security Waiver

CURRENT Dekalb County school district students must complete the Annual Verification in order to register for the '23-'24 school year. Visit https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/online-registration/current-student-annual-verification/. This must be completed by July 24, 2023!

TRANSFER and RE-ENROLLING students (those who are re-enrolling with the school this year after being withdrawn the previous year) must contact the school registrar, Gil Scott, in order to begin the enrollment/re-enrollment process. Once re-enrolled, you will then complete the Annual Verification process (see details above).


 

2. Sign Up For Membership Toolkit and Login

 

Membership Toolkit is a resource that is used to provide parents access to a directory of contacts for other OGE families and teachers, as well as:

 

  • PURCHASE YOUR CHILD' S PLANNER (REQUIRED for grades 1-5)
  • CONTRIBUTE TO GIVE TO GROVER
  • JOIN THE PTA

 

To access Membership Toolkit, click here. Create your account and/or update your information for this school year. You will have the option to choose what information you wish to publish in the directory. We will not publish or use any information that you choose to hide. 

 

After you create your account/update, you MUST complete the 2023-2024 Virtual Registration Checkout Form on the My Forms Page.

In your receipt you should also see a link to TOTEM, Georgia PTA's new membership system. We will be using this system for our membership this year. Didn't get a link? Click here to join the OGE PTA!

 

3. Stay Informed and Get Involved

 

Sign up for the Oak Tree Newsletter. This weekly e-mail will keep you in the know with everything going on at OGE. Simply log in to your Membership Toolkit Account and click on your name at the top of the page. Then click on the Subscriptions tab to make sure that you're signed up to receive the Oak Tree Newsletter.

 

Follow us on Facebook. Here you will find the most up to date information on upcoming events and important school information. 

 

Volunteer with the PTA! This is a wonderful way to really get to know your OGE community and to get to be a part of the excitement throughout your child's school year. Whether you only have a moment to spare or many moments, there are a multitude of ways for you to get involved!

4. Nutrition

 

SchoolCafe is the program used to add funds to your child's account to purchase school meals. At this time, the USDA program for free meals during the school year will NOT be in place for 23-24. There are subsidies for districts and the Keep Kids Fed Act covers summer programs. Applications for Free/Reduced price meals will be available after July 1 at the following link: https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/school-nutrition/fr-meal-applications/

 

Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria this year between 7:15 a.m. and 7:35 a.m.

5. Bus Routes

6. After School Care

 

Oak Grove offers an affordable after-school, extended day program to students and parents. Registration for this program will begin August 1st.

 


OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

Teacher/Classroom Assignments & Open House: Teacher lists will be posted at the front of the school on the morning of Open House, August 2nd. Once your child has been assigned to a class, you can expect your child's teacher to contact you. Please be on the lookout! 

 

OPEN HOUSE is scheduled for Wednesday, August 2nd, 8:00-11:30am.

We welcome both parents and students to come and see your child's classroom and meet the teachers!   

 
Parents and students will go directly to the cafeteria to complete paperwork.  After that is complete, please head to the classroom(s) to meet the teacher(s) and complete any additional paperwork. You may drop off your school supplies to the classroom(s) at that time.
 
 


School Supplies: If you ordered a school supply kit for your child this year, they will be delivered to your home. If you still need to purchase supplies, you will find the supply lists by grade level on our homepage.

 

Clubs and After School Programs: This year OGE is excited to offer EIM Dance Club, Chess Club and Art Club. All programs will begin after Labor Day. 

 

Dismissal: OGE uses School Dismissal Manager to streamline the pickup/checkout process of your child(ren). Please be on the lookout in your e-mail for instructions on how to register and update your information.

  

Students with Needs:
If your child has a medical condition that requires them to need to have access to certain medications during the school day (504 plan) AND/OR your child has specific learning difficulties (IEP), you will need to apply for accommodations through the Department of Education. Here is quick comparison summary of these two plans. Contact our front office staff for more information on this process.
